Job Task Analysis

The Job Task Analysis, also known as practice analysis, role delineation study, and occupational analysis is the first step in the test development process and provides the foundation for all subsequent test development activities. A job task analysis is a systematic process for analyzing a job role in terms of the job functions and tasks performed on a job, as well as the knowledge and/or skills required to perform those tasks. The results of the job task analysis describe the breadth and depth of knowledge and skills that must be covered by the certification exam in order for it to be deemed valid, credible, and useful. We also use the results of the job task analysis to create test objectives for the exams. Test objectives provide item writers with specific instructions on what the item should measure and how and help to make sure that the knowledge measured by the exam is the same knowledge that is used on the job.
