PHOENIX – February 21, 2012 - The United States Department of Education will host a symposium to better understand exam integrity on Tuesday Feb. 28, 2012 in Washington, D.C.

In support of the Department of Education, Kryterion Incorporated's Chief Scientist David Foster, Ph.D., will attend and contribute as an external expert on the second of four panel discussions, Questions Regarding the Detection of Testing Irregularities.

The Department of Education will combine information received from the symposium and a previous public request for information from the public earlier this month.  The information will be published in a document that contains a summary of the recommendations.

“This is a symposium on academic test integrity,” says Foster.  “Involved in high-stakes testing, we have a responsibility to protect the academic integrity of these important tests and we will contribute where we can.”

Foster, and the rest of the panel, will discuss principles and methods regarding the detection of testing irregularities, including statistical analysis.  The other panels will highlight prevention of testing irregularities, online and computer-based assessments and the review and investigation of alleged testing irregularities.
